Landon Utkhe grew up in Minnesota playing sled hockey for his hometown team, the Rochester Mustangs, and for the Minnesota Wild sled hockey teams, alongside future Team USA teammate and fellow defenseman Liam Cunningham. Utkhe picked up sled hockey as a child shortly after his leg was amputated as a result of a lawnmower accident when he was three years old.
Utkhe made his international debut at age 18 for the U.S. sled hockey team at the 2025 IPH Cup. He would later pick up his first career point at the 2025 Para Hockey Cup as the U.S. took home the title.
Just over a month later, Utkhe was named to his first U.S. Paralympic team for the Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, and in his inline, to make his Paralympic debut alongside longtime childhood teammate Liam Cunningham.
