Biographical Information

Joanne Reid is the daughter of 1980 Olympic speedskating bronze medalist Beth (Heiden) Reid and the niece of Eric Heiden, the only Winter Olympian to win five gold medals in a single Olympics, which he accomplished at the Olympic Winter Games Lake Placid 1980.

Joanne Reid was an NCAA cross-country skiing champion at the University of Colorado before taking up biathlon in 2015. She made her IBU World Championship debut for Team USA in 2017 and, a year later, her Olympic debut at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.

Off the snow, Reid enjoys mountain biking, climbing, rollerblading and microbrewery touring, and says the number one thing she misses when she is on the road is Colorado craft beer.
