Sean Doherty grew up in Center Conway, New Hampshire, and began competing in biathlon at age 12. He became the first teenager and the youngest U.S. athlete to compete in biathlon at the Sochi Games. He has been a member of the U.S. biathlon team at eight world championships and qualified for his fourth U.S. Olympic team for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
Doherty joined the U.S. Army in 2018 and is a member of the U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program. Doherty is a carpentry and mason specialist with the Vermont Army National Guard.
