Biographical Information

Griffin LaMarre was born with spasptic paraplegia, a hereditary condition that affects the strength of his legs and his balance. As a child, he played baseball, soccer and lacrosse through middle school before trying sled hockey at age 11.

At the age of 15, he made the U.S. development sled hockey team, and seven years later, when Hall of Fame goaltender Steve Cash retired, he was selected for the senior U.S. national team.

LaMarre made his Paralympic debut at the Paralympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, serving as the backup goalie to Jen Lee, and appeared in one game. LaMarre was the starting goaltender for the U.S. at the 2024 International Para Hockey Cup, where they won their third consecutive IPH Cup, with LaMarre recording two shutouts.

When not on the ice, LaMarre works in commercial real estate and is an avid sports fan of the New England Patriots and the West Virginia Mountaineers.
