Casey Kaufhold, Jack Williams Win Recurve Mixed Team Silver At Medellin Archery World Cup

Olympians Casey Kaufhold and Jack Williams will be heading home form Medellin, Colombia, with a silver medal. 
The American duo wrapped up the Medellin Archery World Cup with a silver medal in the recurve mixed team event Sunday. 
This is Kaufhold’s third straight world cup medal in this event, as she won silver in Gwangju, South Korea, in May and gold in Paris this June. Both of those medals came while competing alongside three-time Olympic medalist Brady Ellison. 
This was the first mixed team event of Williams’ world cup career, and he has a silver medal to show for it. 
Kaufhold, 18, and Williams, 22, were ranked No. 4 in the elimination bracket after compiling 1336 points during qualification. That earned them a bye in the first round of the elimination bracket. They then went on to beat the Czech Republic, 6-0. 
The Americans didn’t have much more trouble with No. 5 Mexico in the quarterfinals, as the U.S. team won that match, 6-2. 
They then upset the reigning Olympic gold medalists from South Korea, An San and Kim Je Deok, in the semifinals on Friday.
“We’ve shot a lot of matches against Korea, so it feels good to finally win one,” Kaufhold told World Archery’s website.
Their run came into an end in the final, however, when the Americans fell to No. 7 Chinese Taipei, 5-4. 
Williams also made a deep run in the individual recurve men event. Earning the No. 3 ranking through qualification, Williams lasted all the way until the semifinals before losing to No. 2 — and eventual gold medalist — Kim Woojin of South Korea. Williams finished in fourth after falling 6-4 to Miguel Alvarino Garcia of Spain in the bronze-medal match. 
The U.S. also had success in the non-Olympic compound events in Medellin. James Lutz won the men’s event, then added a silver in the mixed team (with Linda Ochoa-Anderson) and a bronze in the men’s team (Braden Gellenthien and Tate Morgan).
