Julie Letai started skating around two years old, following her two older siblings who were already ice skating at her local rink. She started in figure skating lessons at first before switching to speedskating around age 7.

She made her first U.S. national team in 2019 and has competed at four world championships for Team USA, including winning a silver medal on the women’s relay team at the 2024 world championships. Letai made her Olympic debut at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, competing in the women’s 1500m and the women’s relay.

Off the ice, she hopes to pursue a career in healthcare after her speedskating career ends.
