Biographical Information

Andrew Heo grew up in Warrington, Pennsylvania, a suburb north of Philadelphia. The son of South Korean immigrants, Heo followed his cousins and older brother, Aaron, into speedskating at Potomac Speedskating Club.

Heo would make his first U.S. national team at the age of 17, and three years later, he made his Olympic debut at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, finishing 7th in the 1,000-meter.

Following the Beijing Games, Heo would win his first world medal, a bronze, as part of the U.S. mixed relay team at the 2024 world championships. The following year, Heo won his first ISU Short Track World Tour race, the 500-meter, in the final stop before the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Heo said of the victory: “It’s good momentum going into the Games, they’re stepping stones — lots of little wins, and this is a big win.”

When not on the ice, Heo enjoys music and has played a  variety of instruments throughout his life, including the violin, piano, saxophone, guitar and drums.
