Biographical Information

In 2016, Dan Barefoot held a 9-to-5 job at an engineering firm located in Florida when he decided to compete in skeleton. Barefoot did a Google search to find out which Olympic-style sport a novice could train for later in life with little or no previous experience, and skeleton links popped up on his laptop screen.

He began training and methodically worked his way through the skeleton ranks, participating on the U.S. Skeleton Developmental Team, North American Cup Tour, Intercontinental Cup Tour and eventually competing at the IBSF World Cup Tour events and three world championships for the U.S. He finished 11th at the 2025 IBSF World Championships in Lake Placid, New York.

Barefoot attended Penn State University, where he got a degree in Landscape Architecture and currently works as a landscape architect. At Penn State, he was active in club sports, including baseball and fly fishing.
