Brock Faber grew up in Maple Grove, Minnesota, and started playing organized hockey around age 7. Faber excelled not only at hockey but also at other sports like baseball, soccer, and football. As a teenager, he decided to focus solely on hockey after joining USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program in Plymouth, Michigan. Faber said of his time in the program: "That was really important for me, you have to mature a lot quicker, obviously leaving home at 16.”
Faber would come back to his home state to attend college, where he led the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers to two Big Ten Championships and three NCAA Tournament berths in ice hockey. Also, while he was in college, Faber represented the United States at two World Junior Championships (winning gold once) and the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022.
Following the Beijing Games, the following season Faber signed with the Minnesota Wild and made his NHL debut two days after losing the national championship game to Quinnipiac. Faber was the runner-up for the Calder Trophy (Rookie of the Year) in his first full season in the NHL and represented the U.S. in 2025 at The 4 Nations Face-Off. A year later, he was selected to his second consecutive Olympic team for the Winter Olympic Games Milano Cortina 2026.
Faber is also active with the 2026 Special Olympics USA Games which are taking place in Minneapolis. He grew up playing hockey with his sister, Paige, who was born with a cognitive disability and plays for Minnesota Special Hockey, a team sponsored by the Wild. Faber has called Paige: “She's the light of my life. She’s been the best sister I could have asked for. She has special needs yet teaches me things every day.”
