Paralympic Sprinter David Brown Announces Engagement

David Brown, often called the “fastest blind man in the world,” took to social media on Saturday to announce his engagement.
Brown, who took gold in the 100 meters at the Paralympic Games Rio 2016, posted photos to Instagram and Twitter that showed him with his fiancée, Rebekah Hill. The caption to his Instagram photo read, “She put up with me for 21 months now she has to put up with me for the rest of our lives.”

Hill, who won a USA Archery Achievement Award in 2018, also posted photos of the couple on her Instagram account. Her caption read, “This is David @iamdavidrbrown He was my boyfriend. Now he’s my fiancé. And soon he will be my husband. 😍 I’m so blessed and thankful that God has brought you into my life. 🥰Can’t wait for a lifetime of getting boba together!🤪”
Brown was diagnosed with Kawasaki disease before his second birthday and lost his eyesight by the time he turned 13. The St. Louis native has set world records, including becoming the first totally blind athlete to run the 100m in under 11 seconds, and won Paralympic gold alongside his sighted guide, Jerome Avery. The two are training for the Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020 later this year.
