Biographical Information
Tasia Tanner's path to elite aerials skiing began on the alpine racing circuit, though her love for the slopes started well before that. Learning to ski at just 2 years old, Tanner spent much of her formative years on the slopes—an upbringing made easy by such close proximity to Park City’s devoted ski culture. She developed her skiing fundamentals with Rowmark Ski Academy starting at age 7, and it was here that she began to engage in competitive skiing and racing. When a knee injury in high school forced her to reimagine her skiing career, the setback became an unexpected opportunity. At age 12, she discovered the water ramps at Utah Olympic Park with Fly Freestyle. The moment she launched off the ramp and felt the sensation of flight, she found her calling.
Tanner joined the U.S. Ski Team for the 2021-22 season, making her world cup debut on home snow at Deer Valley Resort in 2021. Her early career included exploration across multiple freestyle disciplines—big mountain, big air and aerials—before ultimately choosing to specialize in aerials, where her exceptional landing technique and instinctual competitive drive set her apart. Throughout her development, she accumulated 10 NorAm Cup podiums, including a second-place finish at Utah Olympic Park in 2021 and a third-place result at Le Relais, Canada, in 2019.
During the 2023-24 season, she earned six world cup top-10 finishes with consistent performances that showcased her technically proficient execution. Her beautiful form and reliable landings caught the attention of judges and competitors alike, culminating in her being awarded the coveted FIS Rookie of the Year honor for 2024. She also captured the 2023-24 NorAm Cup Overall title, cementing her status as one of the sport's rising stars. The stellar season earned her promotion to the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team's A Team for 2024-25, where she joined Olympic medalists and world champions on America's powerhouse aerials roster.
Tanner made her world championships debut at the 2025 FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships in St. Moritz/Engadin, Switzerland. Her progression enabled her nomination to Team USA for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, bringing with her a desire to contribute to the robust legacy of American aerial performance.
Off the snow, Tanner's accomplishments extend far beyond athletics. She completed her undergraduate degree in Information Systems from the University of Utah, then pursued a master's degree in Cybersecurity Management while competing on the World Cup circuit. To manage the anticipation before launching off the in-run, Tanner turns to heavy metal music—artists like Amorphis and Lacuna Coil—to focus her mind.
