Biographical Information

Tara Peterson grew up in Burnsville, Minnesota, and began curling at age 8. Her parents, a dentist and a dental hygienist, decided to join a curling league and also signed up Tara and her older sister, Tabitha, for a junior curling league in St. Paul.

Peterson would win three consecutive junior national championships, the first two with her sister, Tabitha, and a bronze medal at the 2010 junior world championships.

In 2014, Tara Peterson would win her first national championship. After taking a break from curling to attend dental school, Tara rejoined her sister Tabitha on the same curling team post the Winter Olympics PyeongChang 2018. They have four national titles (2020, 2023-2025) and a bronze medal for Team USA at the 2021 world championships, the first medal for the Americans in women’s curling since 2006. Her fifth national title in 2025, came five months after she gave birth to her first child, Eddie.

Tara made her Olympic debut as the lead alongside her sister, Tabitha, who was the skip at the Winter Olympic Games Beijing 2022, where they finished sixth.

Off the ice, she is a dentist in Minnesota following into the same profession as her parents. Peterson also enjoys golfing, having recorded her first hole-in-one in July 2021 while playing with her husband, Jon, and her brother, Trent, who played Golf collegiately at South Dakota State.
