After going back to college to a degree in psychology he became a middle school math teacher and a high school basketball coach.  Emt took up the sport of wheelchair curling in 2013 and within a couple of years competed for Team USA at the Wheelchair Curling world championships. Emt has represented the U.S. in eight world championships in the mixed team event with his best finish being fourth-place finish for the Americans in 2021.

Emt made his Paralympic debut at the Winter Games PyeongChang 2018, where Team USA finished 12th. Four years later, he competed at the Paralympic Winter GamesBeijing 2022 , helping the team improve to a fifth-place finish.

Emt was also the wheelchair mixed doubles national champion in 2025 with his partner Laura Dwyer represented the United States at the world championships where they finished ninth helping finalize the United States qualification for the event that will debut at the Paralympic Winter Games Milan Cortina 2026.
