Biographical Information

Scott Patterson is an American cross-country skier. Growing up in Anchorage, Alaska, he attended South Anchorage High School. During his high school years, he became a three-time Alaska State skimeister. Patterson continued his skiing career at the University of Vermont, competing alongside his sister Caitlin, and graduated in 2014 with a degree in mechanical engineering.

Patterson made his debut at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 where he placed 11th in the 50-kilometer mass start, marking one of the best results for an American male in that event. That same year, Patterson won gold in the 15-kilometer freestyle event during the U.S. Championships – one of his most impressive achievements. In the 2021-22 season, he achieved his first world cup win, when he was part of the U.S. team that clinched victory in the 4×5-kilometer mixed relay in Falun, Sweden.

In March 2024, he announced his retirement from competitive cross-country skiing. He currently represents the Alaska Pacific University and the U.S. Ski Team, while working part-time as a mechanical engineer. An all-around athlete, he enjoys running, climbing and rafting in his free time.
