Biographical Information
Matt Hamilton, born in McFarland, Wisconsin started curling as a high school freshman when a friend asked him to join his local league team at the Madison Curling Club. Four years later, Hamilton was a junior world champion as part of a team led by skip Chris Plys. 
After the Olympic Winter Games Sochi 2014, John Shuster asked Hamilton to join his team, nicknamed "The Rejects" composed of athletes not picked to the U.S. curling's high performance program. That following season the team of rejects would become national champion in 2015 and a year later bronze medalist at the world championships. 
Hamilton made his Olympic debut at the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics, competing in both men’s curling and mixed doubles with his younger sister, Becca Hamilton. In men’s curling, he was part of the historic U.S. team alongside Shuster that won gold, the first Olympic gold medal for the United States in curling. The Hamilton siblings placed sixth in mixed doubles. Afer the PyeongChang Games, Hamilton’s elite sweeping skills along with distinctive mustache and charismatic personality led him to become the first curling professional to have a bobblehead made from his likeness by National Bobblehead Hall of Fame and Museum. 
At the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, Hamilton competed in men’s curling, where Team USA finished in fourth place. Hamilton has won nine total U.S. national championships with six in men’s team event coming with John Shuster as skip and three in mixed doubles with his sister, Becca.
Hamilton has various interests co-hosts an afternoon drive radio show focused on all Wisconsin sports.  He also enjoys roasting coffee and supporting philanthropic efforts. During the Beijing 2022 Olympic Games, Hamilton sported shoulder-length hair, which he later cut and donated to a children’s wig foundation. A strong advocate for brain cancer research, he actively supports StacheStrong, a non-profit organization raising funds for glioblastoma research.
