Biographical Information

Kaila Kuhn grew up in Michigan and was put on skis by her parents at 18 months old. Kuhn grew up a competitive gymnast until age 12. Eventual U.S. teammate Winter Vinecki, who only grew up only 30 minutes away, got in touch with Kuhn and encouraged her to switch to aerials after seeing a video of her on the trampoline given Kuhn's background in gymnastics and ski racing.

Three years later, Kuhn competed in her first FIS World Championships at only age 15. Kuhn made her Olympic debut at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, finishing eighth, but her big career breakthrough came before the 2024-25 season when she transitioned from competing doubles to triples, which fewer athletes on the women's FIS World Cup tour hit with regularly.

Using her triples, Kuhn would become a two-time world champion in aerials and mixed team and become the youngest American to win an individual world title in aerials at age 21. She also became the first aerialist to win two gold medals at a single edition of the world championships.
