Biographical Information
Jack Hughes was born in Orlando, Florida, into a hockey family and grew up in Toronto, playing youth hockey for the Toronto Marlboros while his father worked for the NHL's Toronto Maple Leafs as the director of player development. Hughes spent two seasons with USA Hockey's National Team Development Program before becoming the first overall pick by the New Jersey Devils in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Hughes had great success at the junior level for USA Hockey. He won four medals in a two-year span, including a gold medal at the U17 World Championship in 2018. He made his debut for the U.S. senior men's hockey team at the 4 Nations Face-Off in 2025.
Hughes was named, along with his older brother, Quinn, to the U.S. men's hockey team for the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026. Jack and his younger brother Luke are NHL teammates on the New Jersey Devils.
