George Austin is a retired investment management executive. Before and after his retirement from JP Morgan, Mr. Austin was active in community affairs in the New York City area. He was on the Board of Governors of his local hospital for 25 years, serving as its chairman from 1993-2003. He was chairman and president of the South Bronx Educational Foundation for 27 years from 1988-2015. George currently serves on the Board of Trustees of the Westchester Community College Foundation.
He is president of the NY Caledonian CC and a past director of the Grand National Curling Club. George was a member of the 2001 USCA Scots Tour team, which claimed the Herries Maxwell Trophy by the widest stone margin in the history of the bilateral competition. He was courier for the 2007 RCCC America Tour team, when Scotland reclaimed the Trophy from the USA. George skipped the winning rink in the GNCC Senior Men's Championship in 1999, 2001, 2003, 2004 and 2010.
George first became aware of curling while living in London in the late 1970s and watching the sport on the BBC, while secunded from JP Morgan to an affiliate of the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency (SAMA), as manager of the investment advisory department. Mr. Austin was a director of JP Morgan Trust Bank in Tokyo, Japan, from 1986 until his retirement from JP Morgan in 1997.
