Biographical Information
Ezra Frech was born in Los Angeles with congenital limb differences, he received his first prosthetic leg when he was just 11 months old and had his left leg amputated at 2. He competed in basketball, soccer, baseball and karate, before focusing on track and field. His first exposure to adaptive sports came at the age of 8, when his father took him to an adaptive track meet.
After watching the Paralympic Games Rio 2016, Frech told his family and friends that he would make Team USA for next Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. Frech recounted the story: “Everyone said I was crazy. It was statistically unlikely. I mean, an 11-year-old saying he’s gonna make the Games in four years is utterly ridiculous.”
Three years later, at age 14, Frech competed in his first world championship for Team USA in the 100-meter, long jump, and high jump in T63 classification (athletes with a single above-knee leg amputation) at 2019 World Para Athletics Championships.
Frech as predicted would make his Paralympic debut, two years later, at the Tokyo Games where he finished in the top 8 in both long jump and high jump competition in his competition. Three years later, at the Paralympic Games Paris 2024, Frech would become a two-time Paralympic gold medalist in the 100 and high jump.
Frech and his family established Angel City Sports and the Angel City Games which provide free sports training for children, veterans and adults with disabilities in the Southern California area. Frech also attends University of Southern California - Los Angeles where he is a member of track and field team and is majoring in business of cinematic arts.
