Ethan Cepuran grew up in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and started skating at age 2, following his older brother, Eric, into the sport.
At age 21, Cepuran qualified for his first Olympic team by winning the U.S. Olympic Team Trials in the 5,000m while his one of his other older brothers, Gordon, called the race as the rink announcer at the Pettit National Ice Center in Milwaukee.
Cepuran made his Olympic debut a month later, winning bronze in team pursuit at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.
Three years later, Cepuran won his first world title in team pursuit at the world speedskating championships and Cepuran and his teammates would set the world record later that year at an ISU World Cup event in Salt Lake City.
Off the ice, Cepuran is a big fan of Chicago sports teams, especially the Cubs and Blackhawks, and enjoys fishing and golfing as much as possible.
