Dylan Walczyk's mogul skiing journey began at age 8 on the slopes of Bristol Mountain in Rochester, N.Y. After four years training in Coach John Kroetz's freestyle program, Walczyk's family moved to Colorado, enabling him to pursue elite-level skiing. The sacrifice proved worthwhile when Walczyk earned his spot on the U.S. Ski Team in 2013 by winning at the U.S. Selections event, launching what would become a distinguished international career.
Walczyk earned world cup podium finishes in Lake Placid in 2013 (bronze in moguls) and Deer Valley in 2015 (silver in dual moguls), demonstrating his prowess on both the moguls and dual moguls circuits. His technical turning ability, combined with powerful aerial maneuvers, has earned him more than 50 FIS World Cup top 10 finishes throughout his career.
The Rochester native's path to the Olympic Games has been far from conventional and has tested his devotion to the sport. Competing independently during the four-year cycle leading up to the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, Walczyk qualified, calling this nomination the culmination of an entire lifetime’s devotion and hard work. He finished 16th in the men's moguls final, capping a remarkable journey that saw him overcome institutional challenges while maintaining elite performance standards. Walczyk returned to the Olympic stage when he was selected to represent Team USA at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
Beyond competition, Walczyk channels his expertise into growing the sport. He co-founded Steezy Joe Network, an instructional skiing platform created with instructor Michael Schaefer to teach mogul skiing techniques and inspire the next generation of freestyle athletes. When he's not navigating mogul fields, Walczyk pursues creative outlets including songwriting, guitar playing and riding motorbikes around his Breckenridge home.
Throughout his career, Walczyk has remained connected to Ski and Snowboard Club Vail, where he developed his skills under the guidance of renowned coach John Dowling before transitioning to independent competition.
