Biographical Information
Clayton Keller was raised playing ice hockey in Chesterfield, Missouri, exposed to the game by his dad, Bryan, and his maternal grandfather, Bill Simpson.
Keller attended Shattuck St. Mary's, the same prep school that produced NHL star Sidney Crosby, and joined the USA Hockey's National Team Developmental Program for the 2014-15 season. Keller was drafted in the first round of the 2016 NHL Draft by the Arizona Coyotes and played a year of college hockey at Boston University, where he was named the ACHA National Rookie of the Year, given out to the best first-year player in NCAA Division I men's hockey before beginning his pro career.
Keller, a four-time NHL All-Star, was not named to the 4 Nations Face-Off roster in 2025 but then captained the U.S. team at the 2025 IIHF World Championships, where the U.S. men won their first gold medal at a stand-alone world championship since 1933.
