Biographical Information

Austin Kleba grew up in Glen View, Ill., and began ice skating at age three for ice hockey, a sport he played competitively until he was a teenager, when shoulder problems led him to switch to speedskating. Two years later, Kleba competed at the Youth Winter Olympic Games Lillehammer 2016 in speedskating, winning a silver medal in the mixed team sprint.

Six years later, Kleba would make his Olympic debut at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, competing in the 500m and 1,000m. Kleba won a bronze medal at the 2025 ISU World Speed Skating Single Distance Championships with teammates Cooper McLeod and Zach Stoppelmoor. The trio had previously set the world record in the event, which is not currently on the Olympic program, at an earlier ISU World Cup event in Calgary.

Off the ice, Kleba enjoys making music, something he has done since age 14. Kleba enjoys the recording aspect of making music and cites the late rapper Mac Miller as one of his main inspirations.
