The U.S. men’s squad is stacked with NHL firepower, led by Auston Matthews, Jack Eichel, and Brady Tkachuk. On defense, Charlie McAvoy anchors the blue line, complemented by the dynamic puck-moving abilities of Quinn Hughes. With an expected balance of experience, leadership, and youth, Team USA’s men will be aiming for their first Olympic Winter Games gold since 1980.
Hilary Knight is the veteran leader and face of U.S. women’s hockey, set to compete in a record fifth Olympic Winter Games. A dominant scorer and captain with two decades on the national team, Knight debuted at the Olympic Winter Games in 2010 and endured gold-medal losses to Canada in 2010 and 2014 before capturing gold in 2018. She has announced this will be her final time competing in Olympic Winter Games, though not her retirement from the sport. If Team USA reaches the podium, Knight would tie the record with five career hockey medals.
Other veteran leaders expected to make an impact include Kendall Coyne Schofield, a three-time Olympian and gold medalist known for her speed and leadership; Alex Carpenter, a two-time Olympian and medalist who adds proven scoring and experience; and defense anchors Megan Keller and Cayla Barnes, both two-time Olympians and medalists providing strong two-way play on the blue line. Lastly, rising star Laila Edwards, the 2024 World Championship MVP, brings elite skill and versatility after seamlessly transitioning to defense.
