Faye Gulini Earns Sixth Career Snowboardcross World Cup Podium Finish

It was only a couple years ago that three-time Olympian Faye Gulini had just one world cup podium on her resume. But since landing back on the podium in January 2020, she’s gone on to record four more including Saturday in Cervinia, Italy.
Gulini ran second behind Michela Moioli of the host nation in the snowboardcross big final, ahead of Australia’s Belle Brockhoff in third and U.S. teammate Lindsey Jacobellis — making her season debut — in fourth. Gulini had come up second behind Brockhoff in both the quarterfinals and semifinals. Team USA’s Meghan Tierney finished second in the small final to finish sixth overall.
The second-place finish from Gulini is the first podium finish for a U.S. woman in snowboardcross so far this season. It’s Gulini’s sixth career world cup podium and ties her best result, done four times, since joining the circuit was back in 2008. Still only 29, Gulini was the youngest snowboardcross athlete when she made her Olympic debut at the 2010 Vancouver Games. She finished 12th, then in 2014 finished just off the podium in fourth. She placed 21st at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018.
On the men’s side in Cervinia, no Americans made either final. Olympian Hagen Kearney was the top U.S. finisher in 11th.
