Hawkes is currently a junior at Keene State College in Keene, N.H. She is a full-time member of the Division III Keene State Track team. She has a concentration in health promotion and fitness and hopes to ultimately be involved with disability sports as a career.

Setting the American record in 2007 in both the 100m and 200m has made Sabra Hawkes very competitive in the international track and field arena for T37 sprinters. In Beijing, at Hawkes' first Paralympic Games, she competed in both events but did not medal.

Hawkes lives north of Boston in the coastal town of Rockport, Mass., where she grew up sailing and skiing, along with her parents and her older brother, Jed.
