  • Roman is a retired Army Staff Sergeant that had his left leg amputated above the knee when wounded by an improvised explosive device while serving his third tour in Iraq in February of 2007
  • Roman, a Purple Heart recipient, was introduced to sled hockey in 2008 by Operation Comfort
  • He made his debut on the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team in 2011
  • Hobbies include working on cars, hunting, wheelchair basketball, hand cycling and swimming
  • Volunteer and coach with Bridge City Inclusive Sports, a nonprofit who are helping to get the community involved and learn more about adaptive sports through wheelchair basketball
