Renée Tomlin is a four-time NCAA All-American in track & field and cross country at Georgetown University, and she was a 2011 NCAA Women of the Year honoree. She was introduced to triathlon through the USA Triathlon Collegiate Recruitment Program. Tomlin says her favorite parts of triathlon are the transitions because they “require athleticism, tenacity, and explosive response all while remaining calm, loose and focused.” Tomlin endured a stress fracture in her foot in 2018 and came back to win the 2019 Sarasota-Bradenton ITU Triathlon World Cup. Her time recovering was spent taking the time to focus on her mindset and learning how to take care of her body properly in order to stay in the sport. Tomlin currently competes alongside former Georgetown teammate, Kirsten Kasper, in the ITU race circuit. She says being able to compete alongside Kasper is special because they are able to depend on each other. Her mother, Stephanie Tomlin, also comes from an athletic background. She was a collegiate swimmer at Northwestern University, and was a pioneer in the advancement of women’s sports and Title IX. Tomlin speaks German, French, and some Spanish. She enjoys spending time on the beach, surfing, body Surfing, hiking, yoga and playing tennis.
