Biographical Information

Born with tibial hemimelia, a congenital condition in which the tibia bone is absent or severely underdeveloped, Noah Bury underwent a below-the-knee amputation as an infant and remained a patient at Shriners Children's Salt Lake City until he turned 21. The environment there, built around adaptive thinking and prosthetic innovation, helped shape the athlete he would become.

Growing up in Layton, Utah, Bury participated in multiple sports. He played baseball through his youth and skied recreationally for years, developing on the slopes of Utah's mountain resorts with a prosthetic limb. After high school, Bury began working at Snowbasin Resort in Weber County, starting in lift operations and eventually progressing to Supervisor of Lift Operations. It was during his time at Snowbasin that he met the director of Ogden Valley Adaptive Sports, who suggested he attend an adaptive winter sports festival in Breckenridge, Colorado.

In January 2024, Bury made the significant decision to relocate from Layton to Winter Park, Colorado, to train full-time with the National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD). He had begun attending Weber State University in person in 2021 as a creative writing major, but switched to online learning to accommodate his increasingly demanding training and competition schedule.

In just three years after competing in para alpine skiing for the first time, he qualified for the 2026 U.S. Paralympic Team. In 2025, he was selected to the U.S. team for the Para Alpine World Championships in Maribor, Slovenia, marking his first world championship appearance.

His progression on the FIS para alpine circuit was swift. In January 2026, Bury claimed first and second place in his class in Winter Park, Colorado, and in February 2026, recorded second- and third-place finishes in slalom and giant slalom at the FIS Open National Championships in Part City on the international circuit. He earned a nomination to the U.S. Paralympic team for the Paralympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026, where he qualified for slalom and was named an alternate for giant slalom and super-G.

He credits Shriners Children's with fostering the kind of adaptive, innovative mindset that shapes how he approaches both training and life outside sport.
