Education
Meier wasn't a skier when he lost his right leg in a garden-tilling accident at age 8. However, he did start skiing the next winter and after graduating from high school, where wrestling was his favorite sport and skiing was a part time activity. He then joined the racing program at Afton Alps. He's a three-tracker - one leg and outriggers (skis on the bottom of his poles). After winning three medals at the 1992 Canadian Nationals, he was named to the ‘93 Ski Team. He picked off his first Paralympic medal the next year (bronze, slalom in Lillehammer).
