Boldy became a first-round pick (12th overall) of the Minnesota Wild in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and played two seasons at Boston College, earning All-American honors as a sophomore after leading the Eagles to a No. 1 ranking.  He finished off his junior career by winning gold at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championship for Team USA.

The following season, Boldy would start his NHL career for the Minnesota Wild and became only the fourth U.S.-born player to record three hat tricks before age 22 (Jimmy Carson, Alex DeBrincat, Jeremy Roenick)

Boldy has represented the U.S. at the 2022 and 2024 IIHF Men's World Championship and 2025 4 Nations Face-Off.
