Biographical Information

Madison Bear grew up in Portage, Wisconsin where she was a three-time state champion in girls’ curling in high school.

Following her impressive prep school career, she would become two-time U.S. national junior champion including winning a silver medal at the world junior championships in 2016.

Bear qualified for her first U.S. Olympic Trials in mixed doubles and women’s team before the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. She was the skip of her women’s team that also featured her high school teammate, Annmarie Dubberstein, but unfortunately Bear did not advance to the playoff round in either event.

Four years later, Bear and teammate Aidan Oldenburg finished third at the U.S. Olympic Trials in mixed doubles and after that semifinal finish, Bear joined Team Strouse as the lead position and also skipping the team something rarely seen at the elite level. Bear calls her unique role: “Truthfully, it’s like the best of both worlds, lead is probably my favorite position, so I get to do that and still get to do my favorite part of the game, which is the strategy and calling line.”

Outside of curling, Bear is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in Wisconsin after getting her master’s degree in counseling from Minnesota State Moorhead in 2023 and bachelor's degree in sport psychology from Concordia University, St. Paul in 2019.
