Biographical Information

Luc Violette grew up in Granite Falls, Washington, where he first started curling and the sport of hockey at age 5. Violette would later commit to curling full-time following in the footsteps of his dad, Tom, a two-time national champion (1990, 1992) who represented the United States at two LGT World Curling Championships. Violette now resides in his new community in Eagan, Minnesota.

Violette had a very successful junior career qualifying for his first world junior championships at age 14. He finished his junior career as a five-time national champion (2014, 2017-20) including winning a silver medal representing Team USA at the world junior men’s curling championships in 2017. Violette also represented the United States at the Youth Winter Olympics Lillehammer 2016 winning a silver medal in the mixed youth team competition as the skip of the team, coached by his father Tom.

Off the ice, Violette is a civil design engineer. In terms of the relations between curling and engineering; Violette says: “I like the angles, the weird physics (of curling),” as he calculates the right shot he needs to hit for his team on the curling sheet.
