More
Growing up in the field hockey powerhouse of Camarillo, Calif., Barber was surrounded by mentors and USA Field Hockey legends Shaun Nakamura, Pat Cota, Ryan Langford, Malachi Mahan, Sergio Centeno and Larry Amara. At the age of 6, Barber's parents put a Field Hockey stick in his hand 10 minutes before his first game held at Moorpark College and the rest is history. Originally attracted to play the sport that most of his friends were playing, and because he got to run around with a stick, Barber fell in love with the boundless creativity and free flowing nature of the game. To him, Field Hockey is a sport where pure athleticism and still have no match. Barber’s passion for Field Hockey is intertwined into his national team jersey and his coach’s uniform. Not only does Barber coach Chula Vista Field Hockey, where he guides up and coming athletes to excel to their full potential but he is also a key contributor to Team USA’s silver medal at the Pan American Cup in 2009 and a bronze medal at the Pan American Junior Championship in 2008.
