Crisp

Julie Crisp has been involved in competitive sports since as early as age six, when she took up swimming. By age 11, she stopped Swimming to play soccer. She continued to play Soccer through college, earning a varsity letter from Oregon State University.

Crisp learned about the Paralympic Games after seeing a picture of a Paralympic soccer player on the internet. She attended an initial training camp with the team and was then invited to attend further team events. After learning that there was no U.S. women's soccer team in the Paralympic Games at the time, Crisp decided to return to the pool. She began to swim with a team and attended her first U.S. Disability Championship.

Following the 2004 Paralympic Games, Crisp took up javelin, and with hard work she not only qualified for the 2008 Paralympic Games, but she set a new Americas' record in the with a distance of 18.81m. The previous record, which had stood since 2003, was 18.22m.

Crisp works as a business systems analyst. She loves to travel, read and surprise people with her accomplishments.

• 2005: First place, 100m backstroke and 200m IM; second place, 100m freestyle and 50m butterfly - CP World Championships
• 2004: Member of U.S. Paralympic Swimming Team - Paralympic Games, Athens, Greece
• 2003: First place, 400m IM; third place, 200m IM - U.S. Disability Championships
• 2002: Second place, 100m backstroke, 200m backstroke and 200m IM; third place, 100m butterfly - U.S. Disability Championships
• 2001: First place, 50m butterfly and 200m IM; second place, 800m freestyle - U.S. Disability Championships
• 2000: First place, 100m freestyle - U.S. Disability Championships
