Biographical Information
Jonathan Tobon grew up in Wisconsin, and followed his older skater, a figure skater, onto the ice but chose speedskating because he “didn’t really like” figure skating when he tried it.
Tobon was a two-time medalist at the Youth Winter Olympic Games Lausanne 2020, winning an individual medal in the 1,500m. Tobon: “Having the opportunity to skate on a frozen lake in the middle of the Alps was an incredible experience that opened my eyes to the opportunities that skating could bring me in the future.” Two years later, Tobon would make his first national team and made his ISU World Cup debut in 2023.
Off the ice, Tobon is an electrical engineering student at the University of Utah with an emphasis on electrical power and applied RF electromagnetics.
