Biographical Information
Jaelin Kauf was born in Vail and grew up in Alta, Wyoming. Her parents, Scott and Patti, were both professional mogul skiers and won a combined seven titles on the ProMogul Tour. Her mother, Patti Kauf-Melehes, was also a three-time X Games medalist in ski cross (1999-2000, 2002) and even brought a young Jaelin up to the podium with her when she won at that event.
In 2015, Kauf won a bronze medal competing at junior world championships in moguls ,and the following year she would make her debut on the World Cup tour. In only her fourth FIS World Cup start, Kauf finished on the podium in dual moguls with a third place finish in Deer Valley. The following year, she would win her first world championship medal, a bronze in dual moguls.
Kauf ascended to No. 1 mogul skier in the world before making her Olympic debut at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 where she finished seventh. Four years later, Kauf won a silver medal at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022 in moguls, continuing the excellence for U.S. women in moguls where they have won seven medals at the nine Winter Olympics, the event has been contested.
During the 2024-25 FIS World Cup season, Kauf won the moguls, dual moguls, and overall Crystal Globes and reached the podium in 14 straight events, with eight wins. Kauf won her first world title in women’s dual moguls, an event that will make its debut as an Olympic sport at the Olympic Winter Games Milano Cortina 2026.
In the offseason during the summer, Kauf enjoys spending time outdoors. She loves surfing, mountain biking, hiking, camping and waterskiing. Kauf is an advocate for women and girls in sports through her involvement with the Women's Sports Foundation.
