Quick Facts
Donte' was first introduced to goalball at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind. He played on the school-sponsored team throughout middle and high school, leading his team to three consecutive National Youth Championship titles. A graduate of Florida State University, Mickens joined the Men's U.S. National Goalball Team in 2003. Mickens is a two-time Paralympian, having competed in 2004 in Athens as well as 2008 in Beijing.
In his spare time, Donte' enjoys playing
basketball,
weightlifting and volunteering. He serves on several nonprofit boards including the National Organization for Albinism and Hypopigmentation (NOAH), Lighthouse for the Blind of the Palm Beaches and Gulfstream Goodwill Industries. He currently works as an insurance and financial consultant in Boca Raton, FL.
