Biographical Information

Dan Rose grew up in Wisconsin playing hockey and joined the U.S. Army Reserves after graduating high school in 2003. While serving in Afghanistan in 2010, his truck was hit by an IED, resulting in injuries that left Dan paralyzed from the chest down.

He picked up adaptive sports after the accident, first with skiing. Rose credited skiing with getting him out of a dark place in his life, saying after his first time on the slopes: "I was no longer merely existing; I was living my life once again." He competed at the 2018 National Veterans Wheelchair Games in five different sports: slalom, powerlifting, field events, bowling, and table tennis. Shortly after, Rose would join the developmental team for wheelchair curling and, by 2021, was named to his first national team.  He was the 2025 national runner-up in mixed doubles with partner Pam Wilson.

Dan Rose married his wife Lisa in 2019, and they have one daughter, Hailey.
