Caleb Smith competed as a luge athlete for five years before transferring his experience and knowledge of sliding to skeleton. During the 2006-07 season, Smith won his first ever World Cup medal on his home track in Lake Placid, N.Y, and finished his third season on the World Cup circuit with a 16th overall standing. Smith graduated from Plattsburgh State University in 2006 with a B.S. degree in Environmental Science and is currently working on his B.S. in Finance. Smith believes that success in an individual sport isn't just about your own experiences. On his web site, Smith wrote: "Teams of people dedicate their time and money to support a dream that everyone has shared in one form or another, from the athletes we compete against to supporters like you."
ABOUT ME:
Caleb was the salutatorian of his high school. He loves the "subtleties and nuances of wine" and enjoys spending time cooking. Caleb would like to follow his degree in finance and enter the business world after his sliding career, and is also considering pursuing wine making. Caleb says he is "currently preparing myself every day to take advantage of he avenue that best suits my direction and abilities."
