Biographical Information

Growing up at Palisades Tahoe, Bryce Bennett began skiing at age 2 and developed his racing style through countless powder days and freeriding adventures. By age 8, he had decided he wanted to compete in the Olympics. After progressing through the Palisades Tahoe Mighty Mite program and ski team, Bennett joined the U.S. Ski Team in 2011 following a spring tryout camp. In December 2015, he announced his arrival on the world stage by finishing sixth at a world cup downhill in Val Gardena—his first top-10 result. He returned to that same Italian course in December 2021 to capture his first world cup victory, then replicated that triumph in December 2023, this time starting from bib 34 to stun the field and defeat the reigning world cup downhill champion by three-hundredths of a second. The 2023-24 season marked his best campaign to date, finishing fifth in the FIS World Cup downhill standings.

Bennett’s towering height presents unique advantages and challenges. While cramped start gates at venues like Wengen can be comically tight, his long legs enable him to brilliantly absorb varied terrain and maintain speed through technical sections. His affable personality and self-deprecating humor have made him a fan favorite, whether he's discussing fishing adventures or his latest CrossFit workouts.

Off the slopes, Bennett embraces a life beyond ski racing. An avid outdoorsman, he spends his off-season working on his house in Tahoe, fishing on Lake Tahoe and mountain biking on local trails. He welcomed a daughter, Kate, in 2025. Fatherhood has added a new perspective to his career as he balances training blocks in South America and Europe with time at home.
