U.S. Paralympian Brian Frasure's athletic achievements say it all. With a personal best of 11.10 seconds in the 100m, and having finished second to teammate Marlon Shirley in 2004, Frasure entered the 2008 Paralympic Games as a gold medal threat. When he crossed the finish line in Beijing behind South Africa's Oscar Pistorius and teammate Jerome Singleton, he had earned a bronze medal. His medal grab was not over, however, as Frasure was part of the 4 x 100m relay team that won gold.

Frasure's veteran leadership has proved an asset on the track, helping lead him and his teammates to two gold medals (gold/4x100m relay & gold/4x400m relay) at the 2004 Paralympic Games in Athens, Greece. As if that weren't enough, he also earned a silver in the 100m and bronze in the 200m.

Frasure's raw speed and athletic ability became evident back in his teen years at Maiden High School in North Carolina. During his senior year, he qualified for the state championships in the 300m hurdles, despite not having a track or hurdles to practice.

College track beckoned, and two weeks into his sophomore year at North Carolina State University, where he was to run on the varsity track team, he was involved in an accident with a train that resulted in the loss of his left leg below the knee.
