Boone Niederhofer grew up in San Antonio, playing baseball and football through high school. He was the team captain and MVP of his high school football team and walked on to Texas A&M as a wide receiver, where, as a sophomore, he was catching passes from future NFL quarterback Kyle Allen.

After Niederhofer's football career ended, he worked in the oil and gas industry. He attended a bobsled combine on Texas A&M’s campus in the summer of 2019 and made his IBSF World Cup debut two years later with the U.S. Bobsled team.
