GET TO KNOW ALYSSA DENHAM

What does it mean for you to represent the United States of America: It is an honor to wear and represent The United States of America. This is a dream come true for not only myself but my entire family. I am extremely excited and blessed to compete in the wonderful game of softball wearing the Red, White and Blue.

What do you enjoy most about softballSoftball is my best friend. Softball is my escape from reality. The aspect that I love most about the game of softball is that you and your teammates come together from all different backgrounds, cultures, etc. to compete and chase a common goal. It has brought my so many wonderful opportunities and I have met some of the most amazing humans along the way.

What is your favorite softball memory: My favorite memory from softball is winning the Super Regionals in 2019 and heading back to the Women's College World Series. It was the first time being there in 10 years. Accomplishing that goal with my teammates and coaching staff and seeing Coach Candrea's face light up was the highlight of my whole softball career.

Who were your softball role models growing up: My softball role models were my three older sisters- Stephenie, Jessica and Tiffany. They all played softball at the Division 1 level at McNeese State University. They were my backbone throughout my career. I wouldn't be here without them and of course my wonderful parents Steven and Kathy.

What is the best advice you've ever received: The best advice that I have received was "I am fearfully and wonderfully made". Coach Mike Lotief shared and always reminded me of this bible verse my freshman year of college. It reminded me to stay true to who I am and just to always embrace my differences. This helped me in softball and in my every day life. It brings me so much confidence.

What #MotivationMonday would you like to share with USA Softball fans: Begin your day with an "I get to" mentality instead of an "I have to" thought process. I get to go to work; I get to have a busy day- whatever it may be. We often dress our opportunities as stress when they are really BLESSINGS.

What is your personal motto: "Practice like you've never won. Play like you've never lost."
