Education

Although Richter was born with only one hand, he has not let that hold him back athletically. During high school, he worked hard on the basketball court and on the track.    Richter won the Joe Schults Award his senior year of high school, proclaiming him the top player in his county. Richter was also an honorable mention Alabama All-State recipient, the Cullman Times Track Athlete of the Year in 2007 and county MVP. Alex Richter, who just finished his freshman year in college, was running track for Wallace State Community College when he was noticed by a Paralympic coach.  His first Paralympic experience has resulted in being named to the U.S. Paralympic Track & Field Team.
