Biographical Information
Alex Ferreira began skiing at a young age, influenced by his parents' athletic backgrounds. His father, Marcelo, was a professional soccer player and his mother, Colleen, is a long-time marathon runner. He began competitive freeskiing at the age of 10 when his mother enrolled him in an aerials event without informing him.
Ferreira is a two-time Olympic medalist winning a silver medal at the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018 and a bronze medal at the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022. He has also secured multiple medals at the Winter X Games, including golds in Aspen in 2019, 2020 and 2024. In the 2023-24 season, Ferreira made history by becoming the first halfpipe skier to win every competition he entered, sweeping five world cups, X Games Aspen, and the Dew Tour.
Off the halfpipe, Ferreria loves the outdoor and cross-trains through a variety of exercises in cross-country skiing, rollerblading, mountain biking, cycling, trampoline and yoga. He also runs a YouTube channel in which he dresses up and skis as an older man who goes by the name of Hotdog Hans.
