Team USA Wins Three Gold Medals At Shotgun World Cup In Italy

The United States earned three gold medals over the past week at the ISSF World Cup in Lonato, Italy, and former world champion Caitlin Connor played a part in all of them.
Connor won an individual gold and two team gold medals in skeet, part of Team USA’s four total medals that were the most of any nation. Three-time Olympic gold medalist Vincent Hancock brought home two medals, winning silver in men’s skeet and taking gold with Connor in mixed team. It was the first medal for Hancock in this season’s world cup, and the first individual medal for Connor.
Connor teamed up with Olympic gold medalist Amber English and Dania Vizzi to take gold in women’s team skeet. It’s the third time Connor and Vizzi have won medals in that event this season. English earned her first medal of the current campaign.
One other U.S. team played for a medal as Hancock, Olympian Phillip Jungman and Adam McBee made the bronze-medal match in men’s team skeet but fell 6-4 to the team from Greece.
Team USA extended its lead atop the overall medal table after the fifth of seven events on the 2022 world cup calendar. The circuit now has nearly a month break before resuming May 27 in Baku, Azerbaijan with events in pistol, rifle and shotgun. The series concludes in July in South Korea.
