U.S. Takes Skeet Mixed Team Gold Medal At Shotgun World Cup

Amber English and two-time Olympic gold medalist Vincent Hancock topped the host country Wednesday in skeet mixed team, prevailing 36-34 in the gold-medal match. It’s the 13th career world cup gold medal for Hancock and the second for English. The U.S. now has two gold medals, two silver medals and one bronze medal with trap events still to come in Lonato.

English, 31, will be competing in her first Olympic Games this summer. She qualified along with Austen Smith at the U.S. Olympic Team Trials for Shotgun in March 2020. It was a breakthrough achievement for Smith after falling just short of qualification in 2012 and 2016. She won her first career world championship medal in 2018.
Hancock is an Olympic veteran, heading to his fourth Games. His gold medals in men’s skeet in 2012 and 2016 make him the only man to win an Olympic men’s skeet title more than once. Hancock has also won four world championships, the most of anyone else in men’s skeet, and now has 23 career world cup medals. 
The world cup continues through Sunday from Lonato, with finals in trap, trap team and trap mixed team taking place starting Friday. Mixed trap team will make its debut as an Olympic debut this year.
