Sunisa Lee knows her way around a floor exercise, but how about a dance floor?
America will soon find out as the recently-crowned all-around gold medalist will compete on the upcoming season of “Dancing with the Stars.” Lee will be the latest in a long line of U.S. Olympians and Paralympians to go after the mirrorball trophy, and will look to match the performance of fellow gymnast Laurie Hernandez, who won it all in season 23. Other Olympian winners of the reality dance competition include Apolo Ohno, Kristi Yamaguchi and Adam Rippon.

Lee, 18, is fresh off her breakthrough performance at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, where in addition to the all-around gold medal she also won silver with the women’s team and a bronze in uneven bars. Lee received a hero’s welcome upon her return to her home state of Minnesota, including a parade and the designation of July 30 as “Sunisa Lee Day.” Next up in Lee’s whirlwind summer is starting her freshman year at Auburn University, where she’ll compete on the gymnastics team.
Season 30 of “Dancing with the Stars” premieres on ABC on Sept. 20. Lee and YouTube sensation JoJo Siwa were announced as the first two celebrity participants with the rest of the cast to be announced Sept. 8. And they will learn their professional dance partners on the premiere episode.
