Biographical Information

Zachary ‘Zack’ DiGregorio's journey to becoming an Olympian began with a family outing in 2011 when he was just 10 years old. His mother, Krista, took him and his siblings to a USA Luge Slider Search event in Carlisle, Massachusetts. Initially motivated by the promise of a free T-shirt and ice cream, young Zack caught the attention of USA Luge scouts who were impressed by his build, speed and strength. A few months later, the DiGregorio family received an invitation to bring Zack to the Olympic training facility in Lake Placid, New York. Following successful tryouts in January 2012, he was named to the U.S. Luge Junior Development Team, launching a career that would make him Medway's first Olympian.

DiGregorio's competitive drive was evident from an early age—his mother recalls him demanding his bicycle training wheels be removed when he was just 2 years old. He progressed through USA Luge's development system as a singles competitor, winning gold at the Norton Youth B National Championships in 2014-15 and earning silver at the 2019 FIL Junior World Cup in Altenberg, Germany. The COVID-19 pandemic dramatically altered his trajectory when the junior world cup circuit shut down. DiGregorio and Sean Hollander made a strategic decision in fall 2020 to form a doubles team.

At just 20 years old, DiGregorio earned his first Olympic berth when he and Hollander were named to the U.S. team, becoming the youngest doubles team in the Olympic field. At the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022, they finished 11th in doubles and seventh in the team relay, posting a time nearly three seconds faster than their previous world cup best.

Following Beijing 2022, DiGregorio and Hollander emerged as legitimate FIL World Cup contenders. Their breakthrough came at the 2023 Lake Placid FIL World Cup, where they became the first U.S. doubles team to win a FIL World Cup race in 18 years. They secured their second Olympic berth through consistent performances during the 2025-26 qualification season.

DiGregorio grew up in Medway, Massachusetts, with his parents Steve and Krista and his siblings. After his Beijing 2022 performance, the town celebrated him as a hero with a police escort and welcome-home party at Medway High School attended by nearly 200 community members. Outside of luge, DiGregorio has co-founded a non-profit organization called Champions 4 Changes and is an accomplished golfer with a single-digit handicap.
